When I was 15, in September 2000, I was diagnosed with Leukaemia and underwent a bone marrow transplant. The transplant was successful, however around three months post-transplant I got Graft Versus Host Disease that attacked my lungs until I needed oxygen 24 hours a day and an overnight ventilator.

In 2011 I went on the transplant list for a single lung transplant at Newcastle Freeman Hospital. In 2012 I got “the call” that changed my life forever. I now live life to the full. I want to make a difference by encouraging people to talk about organ donation, sign up to the register and make their wishes known to their loved ones.

I became an Advocate for LLGL in 2013 and a Trustee in 2015.  I enjoy fundraising in lots of ways - no event is too big!  I also enjoy having sign-up stalls at local events where I can tell my story.

I feel very blessed to have received a transplant. My donor and her family are always in my thoughts; without her agreeing to organ donation I wouldn’t be here today.
